The Creston Valley today looks very different from when the first white family settled. On the "Flats" 25 farmers produce cereals, oilseeds and forage crops on about 16,000 acres.
Agriculture in the Creston Valley Crops grown are: canola (3000 acres), wheat (1000), barley (3000), oats (1000), alfalfa and grass hay (5000) and forage seed production (3000). Creston's grain growers will generate between $5 - 6 million in gross income into the economy, dairy generates $7 million, tree fruit $2-3 million and beef growers $4 million.
The Creston Valley Agricultural Society represents these four commodities which together generate $20 million into the local economy annually. The eight directors and one coordinator serve the four commodities primarily to promote the best interest of the agriculture industry locally. There are two directors from each commodity and one paid coordinator.
